Developmental Editing Sometimes referred to as structural or content editing. We'll look for plot holes, dropped characters, logical inconsistencies, and ways to improve your overall manuscript, including identifying structural deficiencies, weak arguments, and unsupported claims in nonfiction books. Copyediting We'll take a look at your book line-by-line, focusing on style and tone. We'll correct errors in spelling, grammar, syntax, dialogue formatting, and punctuation use. We'll watch for commonly confused words (e.g., affect and effect) as well as check for internal consistency of facts and consistent treatment of capitalization, hyphenation, and numerals. The goal is to ensure the book is clear and consistent and that it smoothly transitions from sentence to sentence, paragraph to paragraph, chapter to chapter. |
